If
This poem is clearly about how to be a man. Rudyard Kipling gives details to express what he's trying to say. This poem is clearly inspirational and motivates people to become someone spectacular. The first stanza is about what should be done and what not to be done. It basically tells you how to improve yourself and not to give in to the wicked, and the evil. The second and third stanza is about not giving up even if you desire to. You should strive to the very end and never look back. Accomplish whatever you want to accomplish, because you can do anything as long as you put your mind into it and focus. The last stanza is about making the most out of life and being true to yourself. Because at the end no one will look at anything but what you've accomplish. People these days only cares about getting a good job, getting lots of money, and having a nice house to support their family. No one gives a damn about your struggles, or even your pain. They only care about how successful you're, and MONEY. The same thing goes with the poem. They only care if you're a man, not a boy. Being a man is the most essential thing in life. People look at you with respect and treat you like a grown-up. Everything in life is better if you're a man. You can experience so many things in life. You just have to work your ass off in order to become one. Triumph over obstacles and race to the very end. That's what men do. They chase after their dream with strength and determination. Being a man is what makes them who they're. In conclusion this poem is really inspirational. I feel like the poem is speaking right through me, and tells me to chase after my dream no matter what the obstacles are. This tells people how to be a man. How to be a man with courage and strength.
Ain't I a Woman
From what I can tell this poem is about feminism, racism, and stereotypes. Sojourner Truth uses personal life experiences to express what she's feeling both physically and mentally. The first stanza is about how poorly she was treated. She never received any luxury, comfort even when deserves to. Other girls were treated better probably because they're white, and we all know that Sojourner Truth is black. Whites back then were treated better, and had everything they could ever wanted. The next couple of stanzas was about how the author can do everything just as good as a man. She works much harder than a man can ever work in his life. Sojourner plowed, planted and gathered into barns but still doesn't get the respect she deserves to have. She and her children was put into slavery and was suffered and tortured. And still she's treated like dirt. In the last stanza she was talking about religion. She talked about how women doesn't have as much rights as men, because Christ wasn't a women. Well I think that's just messed up. I would beat the crap out of that person. Women deserves rights just like men. I mean we are all human beings. We all should be treated equally, and have equal rights. Sure the first women ever created betrayed Jesus, but that shouldn't affect us. It should only be in the bible. Sojourner thinks women can turn the world right side up again but I disagree. It's just impossible. If the first woman that God created couldn't do it, we absolutely can't do it. Eve screwed everything up for us. Women should have rights and be just as equal as men. Something that happened millions of years ago shouldn't affect us. Women is just as strong as men. Honestly I hate this poem. She complains too much about our world. I mean this is how God created the world to be. So just deal with it.

Social Imagination. Agree or Disagree?
Everyone in this world have social imagination. The capacity to invent visions of what should be and what might be in our different society is what makes us special. It's very common for us to want something to come true. That's just how life is. But we have creative people in the world who have a wild imagination. They always come up with something new to add to our boring world. For example the directors in Vampire Diaries have social imagination, by creating a hit t.v show. The visions that they made by choosing the right actors and actresses to bring out the characters personality and image is just amazing. The directors have everything mapped in their head, and knows exactly what to put in film. Their creativity to make episodes without making the show repetitive and boring. Also they manage to throw in a whole new interesting plot and characters to make the audience entertained and keep wanting more. None of this can be accomplished all by themselves. It's teamwork but most importantly imagnition because without it Vampire Diares would be boring. No one will even watch it. Another Example is school. I'm pretty sure everybody hates school, and want it to just go away. But lets face reality, school is never going to go away. We complain about school everyday, and tell our parents how much we hate it. But after a while all the complaining stops because we know it's useless and we can't stand a chance to our parents. Eventually we use our imagination to give back feedback, in order to make our school a better place to be in. In conclusion yes we do have social imagination. Our society is filled with people that have great imagination and can think of something new to add in. Each and everyday our world is continuously evolving with new ideas and concepts. Social Imagination is what defines us for who we are.

How does the past, present, and future lead us to the truth?
The past, present, and future can lead us to the truth in a lot of ways. I have experienced that in my own life, when the past had affected me when other people learned the truth about something that can basically ruin my life. For example Elena was a regular girl who went to a public school. She had a lot of friends, but one of them made her question everything. It was her sexuality. She didn't know who she was, and she was frustrated and worried. Her parents doesn't accept gay, lesbians, bisexual, etc. Elena was freaking out. She didn't know what to do. She fell in love with her friend. But during summer Elena was going to transfer to a new school. A different highschool. But this didn't change anything. She was still really worried what will happen if evreybody found out about her sexuality. In the school she found great friends, none of them she liked in a different way. She was happy. But then Elena had someone who she had to stick for a whole year. Someone who she couldn't avoid because she sees that person everyday in the hallways or in the classroom. Elena was definitely freaking out. She also was a christian. Elena decided to keep her crush to herself, because she knows when she tells her friends they'll laugh at her. But Elena's friends eventually found out. They noticed she acted differently when she's around her. They couldn't believe it but accepted her sexuality. Elena felt better. But her friends do beleive who she likes will never like her that way. Elena agreed but at the same time felt hurt because she's in love and can't escape the lust for it. A year later in highschool being a sophomore she still has feelings for the person she loves, but still has to move on because it will never happen. Even though how good it feels. The past, present, and future lead us to the truth. Elena never told anyone, but her personality change and feelings led to her friends finding out about her sexuality. She now feels better that she ever had been.

Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Rex is a very strange play about a man who killed his father and married his mom. He's the king, and it seems like he doesn't know anything about his past. I mean what kind of person kills someone, and just walk away without remembering anything. He kills his father, and happens to take his place to become king. That just doesn't make any sense. I mean he's king who should remember something from the past. But he doesn't and that's just messed up. As I got further into the play I develop a pure hatred towards Oedipus. Have you notice all the pride he has in himself just because he's king??? He treats people really poorly, by threatening to kill them. If you ask me I think that's a pretty messed up thing to do. First he kills his dad and now he's threatening to kill a person. It's like killing is in his blood. But I got to agree that would be pretty exciting. Oedipus pride pushes him even further from accomplishing what he really wants in life. He rejects Creon's advice, which makes him loose his reputation from Creon and other people. His pride is the main reason he married his son in the first place. Sure he didn't know that the women is his mom but it's still his fault. Everything is his fault. To him marrying his mom and his pride which blinded him from everything in reality. Honestly this play disgusts me. NO OFFENSE!!!!

Social Sattire
Fitzgerald makes fun of youth, wealth, religion by showing us how our world is greatly contributed by three things. He shows us that young people are sometimes greedy, and not greatful for the things they already have. Percy is blind to reality, and doesn't see the true meaning of life. All he cares about is the wealth, luxary, and he thinks that will get him past life. For example when was talking to John, he kept saying that his father can buy any petty merchants, and money-leaders. He doesn't care about John, and basically uses him by taking advantage of him. He's boasting about his "fantasy land" which probably doesn't even exist. Also Fitzgerald uses religion to describe how the rich is always wanting more, and is never please of what they already have. In the story "fish" was the food that Jesus used to feed the people. This goes over to the bible, where Jesus is capable of anything. He has everything in the palm of his hands, even when it comes down to feed a crowd of 5,000 people. Fitzgerald message is to show how the rich acts in everyday society. Sure they get everything, but that is never enough to satisfy them. They always want to have more, and this represents Percy in a way. Percy always takes everything for granted, and soon he would realize that it would get him nowhere in life.

Great Gatsby Movie Reflection
The American dream is unacheivable. That's the main theme in the movie, The Great Gatsby. In the movie, Fitzgerald shows a young man name Gatsby who focused his life to living the American dream, and becoming a hero. He represents the American dream, by desiring to win the love of his life, Daisy. This represents Gatsby trying to search the perfect opportunity to grab the goal, and accomplish it. The green light represents Gatsby longing to fit in, getting the girl, and having satisfaction with all the money he has in hand. The green light is part of the American dream. It symbolizes us trying to find a way to pursue the goal, and achieve them. As the quote is expressed by Nick in the film,"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eludes us then, but that's no matter-tomorrow we will run faster , stretch our arms farther...and one fine morning." Gatsby's goal gave him a purpose in life, which made him unique in a special way.But all that ends when he dies. There's hopelessness and doubtfulness within other people. His dream is crush, and the modern world is destroyed within him. All of that is shattered into a million of pieces, as he lies in the pool unconscious and confused. The American dream is not about happiness. It's about the pursuit of happiness, and Gatsby clearly represents it. He stood for the American dream, unlike other characters who only pursued money, greed, and beauty.

The American dream
I think that the American Dream is significant in the Great Gatsby. This book shows that the American Dream is unachievable. People think that if they work very hard, they'll have everything they want. But the truth is you still aren't happy with yourself, and what you have. So you keep wanting more which you're never gonna get. Each character in the Great Gatsby, represents the American Dream. For example, Daisy and Tom represents what everyone in the lower class wants to be. But they're still very unhappy with each other, and their life. Then there's Gatsby who works very hard, and he gets everything he wants. The characters in the book, represents a different side of the American Dream.

Life in the 1920's
Here I am cruising down the highway
Running over people whoever gets in my way
Windows down jamming on the radio
Looking really sexy eating a cheeseburger
Trying to get to my destination
Putting on my suit and walking into the bar
Smoking, drinking, and dancing all in my blood
Hit the dance with someone
Got drunk
Puke my guts out, and left the party
Drove in my high-tech car
Didn't see a pole
CRASH!!!!!!!

Purpose of the paradox in Life of Pi
In my opinion, the purpose of the paradox was to tell people that each one of them have a wild side just like what Pi experienced. Everyone in the world is an animal. If Richard Parker existed then there's no way that Pi would had survived, because he would be dead meat in a split second. He would not last a second on the boat, because he would be dead by then. However Richard Parker was Pi's wild side. This tells you that Martel's purpose is to tell his readers that it's okay to be different. Making fun of people's religion, race, ethnicity, appearance is wrong because we're all the same, and we all have the same power within us. We're all an animal, whether you like it or not.
3.14 was used in the book to show people that it's an endless number, just like the story Life of Pi. No one knows what actually happens. There's so many different routes of the story. Honestly if there was no wild side of Pi, and Richard Parker was real then he wouldn't survive that long on the boat. He would be devoured in millions of pieces.

Life of Pi Magical Realism
Life of Pi was definitely a work of magical realism, because there was fantastical elements that made it to be a work of magical realism. The story was obviously made up with Pi being on a boat with a tiger who could devour him into pieces without even blinking. I mean Pi was the best meal that Richard Parker could had ever gotten. Pi had no self-defense, because he was weak and useless compared to the tiger. So basically Richard Parker could easily kill Pi, but he didn't. Also it was impossible that that there was a carnivorous island. There's was no such thing as a floating mangrove island packed with Meerkats. That was just impossible!!!! Life of Pi had a normal setting that took place in a normal environment with normal characters. Also the tone of the book was pretty serious because Pi was experiencing and worshiping three religions. Pi was on the boat stranded in the middle of the ocean without any assistant from anyone. Life of Pi was a work of magical realism, because he wouldn't last a second without being torn from limb to limb.
In my opinion, Martel wrote this book to show the readers that each person is created to be different. Each person is unique, and have rights to do what he/she wants. That it's okay to worship any religion because it all comes down to your own faith and dedication. We are all humans, and we're nothing different from each other. We should all respect each other for who we're, because when we die one day it doesn't matter what religion, race, or personality we have.It only matters about what you choose to do in your life, and how you make the best out of it.

Reader Autobiography
People read for multiple reasons. People read because it gives them a sense of knowledge and entertainment. Fiction is an example that a lot of different kinds of readers find enjoyable. Fiction gives readers an escape from the rough world, and gives them a sense of relievement. The genre makes them laugh, smile, and releases them from boredom. Also people read to give them more knowledge, since there's a lot of people in our world who doesn't know how to do anything. For example if they don't know how to cook, instead of wasting valuable money, they should look it up on Google or use a cookbook. Reading improve people's reading comprehension and grammar. That's why in our society people go to school, and read from textbooks because it makes them smarter and gives them a better comprehension on what they're being taught. What makes a person a reader is anything. Anybody can read, you just have to have ambition and determination to read a lot and apply what you read. A person needs to have an interest on reading, or else they're just wasting their time. Also they need to be open-minded to read different genres, other then what they prefer to read. If a person only reads a certain genre, then he/she doesn't know what the other genre is about. The other side is filled with different kinds of genres that lays a new chapter of mysteriousness and entertainment for the reader. Also, the reader needs to apply what they learn in writing and real life. In order for someone to be a good reader, they need to read daily and read a variety of genres. A person can't be a good reader, until they read multiple genre of books. They need to know what they're reading and relate it to their own experiences. My favorite authors are Suzanne Collins and J.K. Rowling. I like them because they're great role-models and they've amazing creativity and imagination. Their books are filled with fantasy. Whenever I read them, I feel a sense of enjoyment and happiness. They take me into their world, and make me step inside their characters lives, and make me be aware of the beauty of language they're using. I consider myself a reader because I enjoy reading different kinds of genres. I consider myself a good reader because I know what's going on in the books, and I can relate to it. I think a good reader is part of my identity because I can relate what I'm reading to my own experiences. I started to read in Pre-k. At first we learned how to read the syllables. When we got better at it, we began to read simple words. After a while we got the hang of it, and we began to read sentences paragraphs. A couple years later, I can read the Dr.Seuss. I'm a blocked reader because I sometimes have trouble comprehending the passage. I sometimes forget what I read, or I just don't understand what the author is trying to say to me. I would like to develop better comprehension and grammar. I would like to have better vocabulary skills and learn more words that I didn't know before. I choose to do and enjoy fantasy and fiction because they give a sense of enjoyment and happiness. I'm required to do history books for school because I had to do it for my summer project. I fear autobiographies, because I hate learning about someones life which I think is really boring. I gained the knowledge of doing this short experience. I learned that my approach to reading is different than what I thought, and to other people. I also learned that I have to read more in order to succeed in life. This process was fun because I get to learn more about my level in reading, but also painful because it was long and boring.

Writer Self-Study
1. People write for multiple purposes. They write to persuade, entertain, and inform their readers in their writings. Writers uses entertainment in their stories, to make their readers feel a sense of amusement and enjoyment. For example, in comic-books, the writers use entertainment by giving a fun story about superheroes and their journey in a fictional town to stop evil. This makes the readers smile and have a good time reading the book. Writers use persuasion in their writing to urge or advise their readers to do something or buy something. Like in advertising papers, it promotes an item being sold, and it persuades you to buy it. They tempt you by giving you a lot of facts and opinions to make you want to buy it. Lastly, the writers inform their readers, so the latter can gather information and stick it into their minds. For example, they write about research papers to give us information on a specific topic.
2. What makes a writer is anything. Anybody can be a writer no matter what the situation is. A writer needs to be able to put his thoughts on a sheet of paper to entertain himself and others. Writers need to read a lot so they can gather new ideas. They also need critical thinking skills, so they can write on the sensitive matter.
3. People don't become a good writer in just one day. They have to keep practicing, and develop a mind that has a lot of ideas to put on paper. Writers needs to have a great imagination in order to write. Without imagination and creativity, their papers are boring and pointless. Also writers need to read a lot to develop writing skills. Reading gives them technical foundation and new ideas.
4. My favorite writers are J.K. Rowling and Suzanne Collins. I like them because they're great role-models and they have amazing creativity and imagination. Their books are filled with fantasy. Whenever I read them, I feel a sense of enjoyment and happiness. They take me into their world, make me step inside their characters lines, and makes me be aware of the beauty of language they're using.
5. I don't consider myself as a writer because I hate writing. I think writing is not my thing, and I don't really like doing it. I have bad grammer, and terrible imagination. I don't have any creativity, and that's what makes my writing really boring. I think none of them is a part of my identity, because I'm a bad writer, and I just write because I have to in order to get past life.
6. I started to write in elementary school. The teachers taught me how to form ideas together, and put it into sentences. After that we began to form paragraphs depending how many sentences we wrote. Soon we got different topics to choose and to write about. The topic had to be put into an essay with paragraphs to support the topic. Also I began to read more, and began to have more and more ideas to further develop my writing.
7.I'm a blocked writer because I can't think of new ideas right away. It takes me a while to come up with something new. I stick with old ideas, because I have a slow brain so I can't think of anything interesting to write about. My writings are really repetitive, and boring because I write about the same thing over and over.I don't have that good of imagination because it's sometimes really hard to come up with new, interesting ideas.
8. I would like to have better imagination and creativity, so I can write better stories. I'm very slow to come up with ideas, so I would like to train myself to become a better thinker. I would also like to have better organization skills because my stories sometimes jump from one place to another.
9. The kinds of writing that I choose to do is Expository, and Narrative because I'm used to it since I use it everyday in school. The kinds of writing I enjoy to do is Narrative because I like making stories with fictional characters. The kinds of writing I fear is creative writing because it's harder than the others and I don't know how to create a poem, because it's hard to come up with new ideas. The kinds of writing I'm required to do is narrative and expository because I use it in school for the STARR test and essays.
10. From the short experience, I gained a knowledge of how to become a better writer. I also learned what kind of writer I'm. From this I need to improve, and develop myself as a better writer each and everyday. My approach to writing is different than others, and it takes time to grow. This process was exciting because I get to learn where I'm as a writer.

A hat or snake that ate an elephant?
The picture looks like a hat instead of a snake because it seems more realistic and explainable. Do you really think a snake can eat a whole elephant? That's just IMPOSSIBLE!!!! There's some animals that a snake can eat, but an elephant is way out of its league. An elephant is much bigger than a snake, therefore the snake can't consume that big of a thing. I think the picture looks like a hat instead of a snake because it makes more sense and it's a more predictable choice.
In my opinion the picture that leads to the better story is the snake eating the elephant. No one in the world wants to hear a story about a hat, because I'm pretty sure it would bore the life out of them. People would most likely enjoy a story with a snake eating the elephant, because it's more interesting and entertaining. I mean don't you want to see a snake swallowing an opponent that's 60 times bigger in size and weight. Seriously the size is like Kevin Hart compared toLebron James. I find that really entertaining. That's why I think the snake eating the elephant leads to a better story because a hat is boring and useless, while a snake can kill and devour things.
The hat would be the "lifeless factuality" because it has no life. All hats are the same, which tells you there's nothing interesting about them. It can't even move, unless someone picks it up and uses it as an accessory. Hats are boring, and their all used for the same purposes, while snakes have different intentions. Snakes have different ways on capturing and killing their pray. Some seizes their pray into their jaws and then coil their body around it, until it can no longer breath and suffocates. Others ambush their pray, and swallow them whole. I think the hat would be the "lifeless factuality" because all it does is shield people away from the sun, while the snake uses venom to immobolize or kill their pray.
