Writer Self-Study

1. People write for multiple purposes. They write to persuade, entertain, and inform their readers in their writings. Writers uses entertainment in their stories, to make their readers feel a sense of amusement and enjoyment. For example, in comic-books, the writers use entertainment by giving a fun story about superheroes and their journey in a fictional town to stop evil. This makes the readers smile and have a good time reading the book. Writers use persuasion in their writing to urge or advise their readers to do something or buy something. Like in advertising papers, it promotes an item being sold, and it persuades you to buy it. They tempt you by giving you a lot of facts and opinions to make you want to buy it. Lastly, the writers inform their readers, so the latter can gather information and stick it into their minds. For example, they write about research papers to give us information on a specific topic.
2. What makes a writer is anything. Anybody can be a writer no matter what the situation is. A writer needs to be able to put his thoughts on a sheet of paper to entertain himself and others. Writers need to read a lot so they can gather new ideas. They also need critical thinking skills, so they can write on the sensitive matter.
3. People don't become a good writer in just one day. They have to keep practicing, and develop a mind that has a lot of ideas to put on paper. Writers needs to have a great imagination in order to write. Without imagination and creativity, their papers are boring and pointless. Also writers need to read a lot to develop writing skills. Reading gives them technical foundation and new ideas.
4. My favorite writers are J.K. Rowling and Suzanne Collins. I like them because they're great role-models and they have amazing creativity and imagination. Their books are filled with fantasy. Whenever I read them, I feel a sense of enjoyment and happiness. They take me into their world, make me step inside their characters lines, and makes me be aware of the beauty of language they're using.
5. I don't consider myself as a writer because I hate writing. I think writing is not my thing, and I don't really like doing it. I have bad grammer, and terrible imagination. I don't have any creativity, and that's what makes my writing really boring. I think none of them is a part of my identity, because I'm a bad writer, and I just write because I have to in order to get past life.
6. I started to write in elementary school. The teachers taught me how to form ideas together, and put it into sentences. After that we began to form paragraphs depending how many sentences we wrote. Soon we got different topics to choose and to write about. The topic had to be put into an essay with paragraphs to support the topic. Also I began to read more, and began to have more and more ideas to further develop my writing.
7.I'm a blocked writer because I can't think of new ideas right away. It takes me a while to come up with something new. I stick with old ideas, because I have a slow brain so I can't think of anything interesting to write about. My writings are really repetitive, and boring because I write about the same thing over and over.I don't have that good of imagination because it's sometimes really hard to come up with new, interesting ideas.
8. I would like to have better imagination and creativity, so I can write better stories. I'm very slow to come up with ideas, so I would like to train myself to become a better thinker. I would also like to have better organization skills because my stories sometimes jump from one place to another.
9. The kinds of writing that I choose to do is Expository, and Narrative because I'm used to it since I use it everyday in school. The kinds of writing I enjoy to do is Narrative because I like making stories with fictional characters. The kinds of writing I fear is creative writing because it's harder than the others and I don't know how to create a poem, because it's hard to come up with new ideas. The kinds of writing I'm required to do is narrative and expository because I use it in school for the STARR test and essays.
10. From the short experience, I gained a knowledge of how to become a better writer. I also learned what kind of writer I'm. From this I need to improve, and develop myself as a better writer each and everyday. My approach to writing is different than others, and it takes time to grow. This process was exciting because I get to learn where I'm as a writer.
